Future Plans
Mahabodhi Meditation Centre
The demand for meditation courses is increasing day by day. Ladakh offers a most conducive atmosphere for exploring the deeper realms of meditation. Ven. Sanghasena would like to welcome more people to embark on a spiritual journey and strive to attain complete enlightenment.
MIMC would like to increase the number of meditation centers in Ladakh. With this in mind, it has been decided to build a new meditation retreat center called "Vipassana Valley" in Tingmosgang. MIMC has chosen a beautiful verdant valley to offer a most pleasant environment for meditation.
Another branch will be set up in Nubra valley for seekers of truth and lovers of peace. This would also render humanitarian service to the people of Nubra valley. Those who would like to contribute to this project, please contact mimcdevachen@hotmail.com.
We already have established an office in New Delhi. Being the capital of India, New Delhi has a huge population and is the arrival point for many travellers. There are very few centers which offer meditation courses in New Delhi and we would like to offer the same for the people and feel that this would be very well received.
Also, we would like to set up hostel facilities for the girls and boys of our school who would like to pursue their futher studies in the capital city.
School Project for Blind Children
MIMC now plans to build a school and a hostel for the blind, initially for 15 to 20 children. Plans are being made for the construction of a school building, a hostel, and staff quarters. The buildings will so designed to cater for the needs and special requirements of the visually handicapped.
Besides regular activities, they will be trained in languages both oral and writing, activities of daily learning, environmental information and object perception, orientation and mobility, physical fitness and recreation. A team of specially trained teachers and a mobility instructor will be employed. Our ultimate aim will be to integrate them with our Mahabodhi School so as to mingle them with the sighted students. This will not only bring children close to each other from an early age but also make them aware of each other's unique potentials and strengthen in creating a better understanding among each other. We plan to build a school and a hostel initially for 15 to 20 children. Education is the beginning of empowerment and children will be trained in languages (oral, reading and writing), activities of daily living, environmental information, object perception, orientation and mobility, physical fitness and recreation.
Special trained teachers including a mobility instructor will be hired for which we need to construct a school building, a hostel and staff quarters.
We welcome your generous donation for this project. Please contact mimcdevachen@hotmail.com for more details.
