Jetsun Milarepa was the most popular saint-poet of Tibet. He is said to have attained enlightenment in a single life. Below a massive 25 feet painting of Saint Milarepa that adorns the eastern side hill of Devachan, six small meditation cells have been carved out on the rock face. These cells provide perfect isolation from the various ongoing activities at MIMC and are an ideal location for long-duration intensive personal meditation retreats for serious practitioners.
Milarepa Meditation Trekking
This program combines trekking with meditation and is an ideal way to explore the magnificent natural environment Ladakh has to offer. Unlike other trekking trips, in this program, the participants are instructed to be mentally very alert and mindful during the meditation sittings, usually done for an hour or two in the mornings and afternoons before and after the trek. After the meditation, the trekkers are expected to be totally in contact with nature throughout the trek.
You yourself must strive, the Buddhas only point the way. Those meditative ones who tread the path are released from the bonds of Mara.Dhammapada Verse 276
